McCaskill Says "Don't Be Penny-wise and Pound-foolish; Don't Gut Medicaid."

At a rally in Washington DC this week, Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri came out strongly for protecting Medicaid. During her speech at the Medicaid Matters Across Generations event, McCaskill stressed the importance of Medicaid as a program that supports a core American value: protecting our citizens in times of need.  She presented a very logical argument about why cutting Medicaid would in fact cause healthcare costs to go up, and encouraged people to pressure their elected officials to make the case for preserving the essential program.

McCaskill attended the event after recieving thousands of letters from Missourians by way of our partners at Grass Roots Organizing (GRO). The letters asked her to protect the social saftey net that many struggling Americans rely on. Watch an excerpt from her passionate speech below:
