Community Change Applauds Movement Investments from MacKenzie Scott
Community Change applauds donors like MacKenzie Scott (formerly Bezos) who are stepping up in this critical moment to support movement groups fighting for economic and racial justice.
Dorian Warren, president of Community Change, and Lorella Praeli, vice president of Community Change, said:
“In all of our lives, there are moments when we’re called to do more–when we claim our power and agency. This is one such moment for Community Change and the movement for economic, racial, and immigrant justice. By investing in our work to build power from the ground up, this gift takes us one step closer to our vision of a just, equitable, and inclusive democracy and economy. As women of wealth step into their power and purpose in philanthropy, our movement grows stronger. We celebrate the example of civic agency that their actions provide for all people of conscience and wealth. ”
Arlene Holt Baker, chair of the Community Change board of directors, added:
“As a life-long labor leader and organizer, I know the power and transformation that are possible when we recognize our shared fate and come together in solidarity to fight for justice. We each choose what we can contribute to the greater good, and I applaud MacKenzie Scott’s contributions to so many powerful groups. Through organizations like Community Change, we will build–together–a just society where everyone can thrive.”
