Leadership Development

Leadership development is an integral part of community organizing, and Community Change builds the power of movement leaders. By investing in our greatest and most valuable resource–the abundant talent in low-income communities of color–we can create a conduit for the sort of transformative leadership the progressive movement needs.

For Community Change’s work to be truly effective, we simply need more and better leaders, and those leaders must be those who have the most at stake, namely women of color. Since our founding, Community Change has developed a distinctive methodology that goes beyond professional development approaches to training and skill-building. We aim to ease the path to leadership, particularly for women of color, and we recognize that mobility among organizations can benefit both the movement and the person.

We incorporate leadership development into every aspect of our campaign work, and we provide opportunities for deep, ongoing support to groups who are critical to advancing key issue areas and whose leadership is essential for building a powerful progressive movement.

While Community Change incorporates leadership development into every aspect of our campaign work, the following programs give us the opportunity to offer deep, ongoing support to groups critical to advancing key issue areas and whose leadership is essential for building a powerful progressive movement.
